Ticket Information

Here you will find all information about tickets and prices. Tickets are available online and at the ticket counter in the museum.

Reduced admission is available for:

  • School pupils, students, vocational trainees
  • Visitors with a degree of disability of 50% or more (If a “B” has been entered in the disability pass, admission is free for one accompanying person. In this case, please request tickets for guided tours via the contact form.)
  • Receivers of unemployment benefits (ALG I)
  • Members of the IGBK / IAA (International Association of Art)
  • Artists who are members of the bbk e. V.
  • Members of Deutscher Archäologen-Verband e.V.

Valid identification is required.

Admission for refugees, Frankfurt Pass or Culture Pass

Refugees and holders of the Frankfurt-Pass or Culture Pass can purchase an admission ticket at the box office at the following prices after presenting valid proof: adults pay €1, young people from 12 to 18 years pay €0.50 and admission is free for children under 12.

Families & children

Admission is free for children under the age of 12.

Children and youths under 18 years of age are admitted free of charge when accompanied by at least one (related) adult with a valid online ticket, to be presented at the ticket counter. Please have a photo ID or student ID ready.

Groups (minimum 10 persons) are entitled to a reduced fee.

Groups are required to register their visit in advance.

Day-care centres, schools, students

  • Day-care groups and school classes to 6th form: admission free
  • 7th form and over, with teacher: €3 per person
  • Group of students with lecturer: €3 euros per person

Free Admission

Visitors with special entitlement can reserve a time slot for their visit online and will receive their ticket at the ticket counter in the museum upon presentation of their proof of entitlement. Please have your reservation, proof of entitlement, and a valid photo ID ready to show upon request.

Free admission is granted to:

  • Children under the age of 12
  • Attendants of people with disabilities (confirmed with ‘B’ in the disabled person’s pass)
  • Journalists with valid press credentials
  • ICOM members with a valid annual sticker
  • Holders of a MuseumsuferCard (please note the changed validity of the MuseumsuferCard as of 1 January 2022)
  • Holders of a MuseumsuferTicket
  • Children and youths with a KUFTI Ticket (Kultur- und Freitzeitticket)
  • Students of the Städelschule and the Offenbach University of Art and Design
  • Members of the Art Historical and Archaeological Institutes of the Goethe University Frankfurt, as well as members of the Department of Art Education
  • Holders of a Hessian Volunteer Card
  • Members of the Frankfurter Stadt- und Gästeführer e.V.
  • Holders of the JuLeiCa (Jugendleiter-Card Frankfurt)
  • Holders of the Deutsche Bank ArtCard

Städelverein

Admission is free for members of the Städelverein. Prior reservation of the visit is not required.

Take advantage of our Tuesday Special and visit the permanent exhibition and all special exhibitions for the single price of €9.

Every Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm.

MuseumsuferCard

MuseumsuferCard

  • The MuseumsuferCard is valid at the Städel Museum for visits to the permanent exhibition and temporary special exhibitions from the museum’s own holdings, for the Städel Rooftop, as well as for a diverse programme of guided tours and workshops. You can visit the current special exhibitions “Muntean/Rosenblum. Mirror of Thoughts” (3 May – 1 December 2024) and “Fantasy and Passion. Drawing from Carracci to Bernini” (10 October 2024 – 12 January 2025). You can also look forward to the upcoming special exhibition “Rineke Dijkstra. Beach Portraits” (13 Dec 2024 – 18 May 2025).
  • Major special exhibitions with international loans, such as “Rembrandt’s Amsterdam: Golden Times?” (27 November 2024 – 23 March 2025) are excluded from this offer. We recommend our Tuesday Special for visiting these exhibitions.
  • To participate in the public programme of the Städel Museum, holders of the MuseumsuferCard can obtain a participation ticket at the museum ticket counter on the day of the desired event, provided that tickets are still available. Advance booking online is not possible.

  • The MuseumsuferTicket is still valid for all special exhibitions at the Städel Museum. Please note the guidelines for the MuseumsuferTicket.

Further Proofs

Further proofs for reduced or free admission

Holders of proof of reduced or free admission not included in the list will receive a ticket for immediate admission at the ticket counter after verification by presenting valid proof or authorisation and a photo ID.

Holders of the Frankfurt-Pass or Kulturpass will also receive a ticket for immediate admission at the ticket counter after verification by presenting valid proof or authorisation and a photo ID.

Flex Tickets

Flex Tickets for major special exhibitions with international loans are offered exclusively in the online shop. Flex Tickets can be used flexibly and without reserving a time slot for a one-off visit to the Städel Museum. They are valid for the entire duration of the special exhibition. The tickets are also valid for the Städel Collection and all other special exhibitions on the day of the visit.

Gift certificates

Gift certificates for 20, 30, and 50 euros are available in the Städel Museum at the ticket counter and in the museum shop. At the Liebieghaus Skulpturensammlung, they can be purchased at the ticket counter, in the café, and in the Liebieghaus online shop. Gift certificates can be redeemed for a visit to the Städel Museum and the Liebieghaus Skulpturensammlung. In addition, they can also be used for purchases in the museum shops of the Städel Museum and the Liebieghaus, in the Liebieghaus online shop, and in the Liebieghaus café. Gift certificates are not redeemable for Städel online tickets.
Gift certificates are valid for three years from the date of issue unless otherwise indicated on the certificate/voucher (regular limitation period according to § 195 BGB).

How do I get to the Städel Museum?

Underground lines U1, U2, U3, and U8 (to “Schweizer Platz”)

Tram lines 15 and 16 (to “Otto-Hahn-Platz”)

On foot approximately 10 minutes from the central railway station via Holbeinsteg bridge

How much earlier do I need to be at the museum before an event starts?

Tours start promptly at the stated time. We recommend that you allow 15 to 30 minutes for check-in and cloakroom procedures.

Can I also buy tickets to events spontaneously at the museum ticket counter?

If the event is not fully booked, any remaining tickets will be available at the ticket counter on the day of the event.
